Clown Prince of Fun

Click to Bid, 8 by 10.5 inches, acrylic on acid free illustration board
Humpty Dumpty is the new "Clown Prince of Fun." I found this retro toy in a flea market recently. I thought the 1940s suited cartoon guy fit in well. The background sky almost suggests a Surrealistic piece.

Hit Me With Your Best Shot

Click to Bid, 8 by 10 inches, acrylic on acid free illustration board
The recent early winter snows have me thinking comic books and snowy weather.
Painting the back shadow behind the 3D figure was the most challenging in this new edition to my "3D meets 2D series".

Recurring Dream # 9

Click to Bid,   18 by 24 inches,   Acrylic on acid free illustration board
In this piece I wanted to combine some elements of Surrealism and Trompe l'oeil with a touch of Abstract Expressionism.  I used a printing block and acrylic paint to produce the black line patterns on the lower two-thirds of the painting. The top landscape was painted using freehand airbrush.  An airbrush and frisk film was used in the painting process of the figures and photos.

Yesterday Once More

Click to Bid,   16 by 20 inches,   Acrylic on acid free illustration board
Nostalgia isn't always an easy hand to play when producing artwork. It seems so easy to go too far and  produce work that turns into nothing more than a cheap greeting card. For me creativity is an important component when doing paintings of this kind. Producing artwork of this nature is also a therapeutic process. It takes me back to those pleasant childhood memories.

Lois & M&M's

(Sold)  10 by 15 inches,  Acrylic on acid free illustration board
This is another in the trompe-loeil painting series. Once again I like the contrast between the three dimensional candy and the flat two dimensional comic.
