1961 A Space Odyssey

Click to Bid, 8 by 11 inches, Acrylic on acid free illustration board

I wanted to do something different with a fantasy twist. I remember watching the movie "2001 A Space Odyssey" in the late 1960s at an all-night drive-in. That movie was on my mind as I developed the concept for this painting. All three of the figures in the painting are toy figures produced during the 1960s.

Yesterday Once More

Nostalgia isn't always an easy hand to play when producing artwork. It seems so easy to go too far and  produce work that turns into nothing more than a cheap greeting card. For me creativity is an important component when doing paintings of this kind. Producing artwork of this nature is also a therapeutic process. It takes me back to those pleasant childhood memories.

I Flew in a Flying Saucer

This is another trompe-loeil in the "3D meets 2D" series.  My fondness for 1950's Science Fiction is once again evident.

Space Top with Reflection

Click to buy,         16 by 20 inches,    Acrylic on panel,
I've painted this top several times before.  This version is done on panel.  I thought the combination of the darkness and the reflection worked well.

Enchanted

Click to Bid                 8 by 8.5 inches,                       Acrylic on acid free illustration board
Once again my love for 1950's Science Fiction is evident. The background is a partial cover of a pulp Science Fiction magazine from the early 1950's.  The figure is a toy character from the mid 1980's.
I once again used various techniques to make the magazine cover look worn.
