Nostalgia isn't always an easy hand to play when producing artwork. It seems so easy to go too far and produce work that turns into nothing more than a cheap greeting card. For me creativity is an important component when doing paintings of this kind. Producing artwork of this nature is also a therapeutic process. It takes me back to those pleasant childhood memories.

Fun Stuff

Another painting in the trompe-loeil series. The worn "I Love Lucy" comic provides a three dimensional aspect due to the torn edge and the curved spine.
These are my old comics from my childhood. As I've mentioned before in my blog the comics provided me with a wonderful fantasy outlet during my youth. Today as I paint these nostalgic pieces from a half century ago I feel a sense of reconciling my past with the present.

Comics & Car
Contact Artist for purchase information 16 by 20 inches, Acrylic on panel
The comic book series continues. This one was very labor intensive because it was done on clay board panel. This trompe l' oeil is interesting because the comics were painted with all the creases and discolorations visible. The comics are from my personal collection and are all Silver Age books.
