I purchased this vintage carton of soda last December at an area flea market.  I had planned to do a painting using it as reference at that time.  Now a year later I finally have the painting completed.

This is my second painting that depicts Christmas light bulbs.  I decided to do a soft red background to bring out the colors of the bulbs.

Snowy Nutcracker

My wife and I attended a national touring company production of the Nutcracker last holiday season.
I was very impressed with the colorfully creative costumes.  When I saw this nutcracker ornament while decorating our Christmas tree I knew I had to paint it.

This Christmas trompe-loeil painting is somewhat autobiographical.  The comic book and toy car were things  I would've had growing up in the late 1950's.  I think the addition of the ornaments and "girl in the snow" picture make for a nice composition.
