Homeward Bound in the Rain

Click to Bid, 16 by 20 inches, Acrylic on acid free illustration board

I painted this landscape scene with just the highway, vehicle and clouds and after finishing decided it needed something. My first thought was adding raindrops to make an appearance of a windshield. It was perfect timing in that it was raining outside so I sat in my car taking numerous photos of raindrops. Those photos were used in the production of this painting.

Bus Ride at Dawn

Sold  18 by 24 inches,  Acrylic on acid free illustration board
This school bus travels down the gravel road near our home each weekday morning during the school year. One morning I was walking my dogs and noticed this stunning scene as the bus travelled down the road to make a right turn onto the highway.  The painting was challenging in that the dark values had to be exact to make the scene work.

November Flurries

(SOLD)  18 by 24 inches,   Acrylic on board
This painting depicts a scene I walk each day.  The gravel road was constructed in the 1950s by my great uncle who owned our estate at that time.

Midnight Road

Not for Sale       16 by 20 inches,     Acrylic on acid free illustration board,
This is a painting from a few years ago that I gave to a friend as a gift.  I had a photo of the cloud pattern and everything else just came from my imagination.  It's quite the departure from my recent work.

Portrait of the Artist (As a Commuter)

Not for Sale            15 by 15 inches,          Acrylic on illustration board,
I did this piece to combine my self-portrait with a touch of humor.  Over the years I spent at least an hour each day traveling to and from the school where I taught.  I think this painting typifies my life at that time.
