This painting is based on some recent photo references from a family vacation at Dauphin Island, Alabama. I know this is a very common beach scene that artists like to paint. I thought the addition of the fishing boat adds a new twist to the scene.

Photo references for this painting are from our beach vacation last summer. Several of my family members were kind enough to take an excursion on the beach so I could photograph them in the early morning sunlight.

I was happy to have the warm colors of the floats in the netting. I try to avoid painting an artwork with only cool colors or only warm colors.
