The "Little People" series continues.
For this painting my reference photos were taken with the "big boy" bank on a mirror with blue sky reflections. The reflecting image at the bottom was done with free hand airbrush.
A friend gave me this coin bank as a Christmas gift several years ago. Since then, I've used it as subject matter in several paintings. I always enjoy painting those shiny plastic surfaces.
This painting depicts a second coin bank of Big Boy that I purchased several years ago.
This Big Boy coin bank was a Christmas gift I received a few years ago. I've enjoyed painting it numerous times over the years. I always enjoy painting bright colors and shiny plastic surfaces.
This was a challenge since I used watercolor instead of my usual comfort zone "acrylics."
The main problem occurred when I was applying the watercolor paint using the airbrush. As I sprayed the paint it stuck to the frisket film and quickly dried and then began flaking off onto my wet paint. I remedied the situation by covering the frisket with sticky notes. The paint didn't stick to the notes.
