After looking at the painting for a while I thought that the image already suggests falling rain. I then decided that it was unnecessary to actually paint the raindrops.

Railroad Crossing (Saturday Morning)
Click to Bid, Acrylic on panel, 14 by 18 inches,
I've always been interested in graffiti. I grew up near a train track and we saw plenty of graffiti.
The spray cans used in graffiti painting are similar to airbrush painting. (Except on a larger scale.) Recently I was lucky enough to photograph some graffiti painted train cars in my hometown. Those photos were used as reference in the painting process.
