In the 20th and early 21st century, the title of my latest painting was a common phrase heard where landline phones were used. With the advent of cell phones, not so much anymore! You might be scratching your head trying to remember where that number is from. Here's a clue, "Who you gonna call?"
The "Retro Still-life" series continues with my latest painting titled after an early 1970's song. For many Boomers this was a welcome site at the beginning of each day.

I found this vintage clock at an antique mall in St. Louis recently. It is similar to another clock that I have used as a still life subject.
Another painting in the "Retro" series. This portable AM radio was powered by a small 9-volt battery. For many teenagers, myself included, it was one of the few forms of entertainment during the 1960s.
This painting depicts a top I recently purchased at a local flea market. I enjoy painting tops because of the bright colorful characters and the reflection of the shiny metal surface.
This Fisher-Price Humpty Dumpty toy dates from 1971. I placed it on a mirror with a single light shining on it to achieve the reflective image.
I found the phone depicted in my latest painting at a local flea market. I am guessing the phone is possibly from the 1960s. I was amused at the center lettering of "Please Answer Promptly."
I purchased this phone in a Flea Market in St. Louis last week and immediately planned to use it as a subject in a painting. If you are a fan of 80s pop music that phone number will probably have you humming.
I found this clock in a St. Louis flea market a few weeks ago, and I then found a sample of wall paper that I thought would work with it. The finished painting to me has a hint of Peter Max.
This phone has a unique place in our family history. In 1979 after my wife and I were married we rented a small house in our hometown. The phone and its number had been left there from the former tenant. Later, after we relocated outside town near our present day home we were told by the phone company to take the phone with us using the same number. We later relocated to our present home once again taking our old dial up phone with us. Today this phone is still used and is located in my art studio. The remaining landline phones in our home are all digital phones.
