Nude Study #11

Click to Bid, 8 by 10 inches, Acrylic on acid free illustration board.

I used spectrum art tissue to achieve the background colors. The tissue bleeds color when moistened. I then used a scrapbooking printing block to add the background lines. The figure was airbrushed using acrylic paint.

Nude Study with Abstract #3

Click to Bid, 8 by 10 inches, Acrylic on acid free illustration board
The background was done with Spectrum tissue paper and a scrapbooking stamp using black acrylic paint. The tissue paper is dampened with water and the color bleeds through onto the illustration board at which time the tissue is removed. The figure was painted with acrylic paint applied with airbrush.

I was drawn to paint this nude figure because of the interesting pose. I once again used Spectrum tissue paper to produce the abstract-like background. The tissue bleeds color when moistened with water.

Nude Study on Watercolor Paper

Click to Bid, 8 by 10 inches, Acrylic and watercolor on watercolor paper.
I always like how watercolor paper absorbs paint.  In this painting I applied watercolors using a sponge on wet paper. The bleeding of color was a bit uncontrollable but I like the results.  The figure was applied using airbrush with acrylic paint.

Nude Study # 8

Click to Bid,  8 by 10 inches,  Acrylic on acid free illustration board
Back in the mid 1980's I did some graduate studies at the University of Missouri.  After an introduction to a drawing class I found that most of the sketching would be from nude models.  Over the course of the class we drew every conceivable pose possible. Every kind of foreshortened pose was done.  I became very frustrated with drawing the nude.  Years have passed and now I'm painting the nude figure again. This time I've decided to take a creative approach in the painting process of the nude.

The pattern used in the background was done using a rubber stamp and acrylic paint.  It was applied while the frisket was covering the figure.

Nude with Robe

Click to Bid,   5 by 10 inches,   Acrylic on acid free illustration board
This painting is reminiscent of the nude painting classes from my university days.   The professors would always include some fabric in the pose for an additional challenge.  The reference photos used in this painting are from the website characterdesigns.com.

Nude Study in Darkness
