Nude Study in Darkness
Click to Bid, 6 by 11 inches, Acrylic on acid free illustration board
I was interested in painting this one due to the contrasts of skin colors with the dark background. The photo references are from the website Characterdesigns.com.

In the Eye of the Beholder
Click to Bid 8 by 10 inches, Acrylic on acid free illustration board
Growing up as a child I attended a Catholic school. The teachers at the school were nuns. I grew up with three brothers and no sisters. My mother and grandmother to the best of my memory rarely wore makeup. I started attending the local public high school as a freshman. The year was 1968. I was dumbfounded to see all the variations of eye mascara and makeup worn by students and the female faculty. As a young man interested in art this always fascinated me. My interest is evident once again in this newest painting of mine.

Cath in Shadows
Click to Bid 6.5 by 9 inches, Acrylic on acid free illustration board,
I was compelled to paint this artwork because of the challenge of painting the fabric. In areas of light the fabric is almost transparent while in shadows the fabric is more opaque.

Nude Study with Shadows
Sold 8 by 10 inches, Acrylic on acid free illustration board,
This painting was quite the challenge. When using acrylic I work in a light color to dark color process. The dark colors are applied last. This is the same technique used by most traditional watercolor artists. In this artwork I kept gradually applying darker skin tones. I was concerned I would get too dark. Once that occurs it is difficult to correct the problem. After some very careful color application I was successful in applying those last few layers of dark skin shadows.
