This painting is somewhat reminiscent of Roy Lichtenstein's work.  That didn't occur to me until I had finished the piece.

To set up this still life I placed a large marble on an old Abbott and Costello comic book.  I took the reference photos looking at the still life from an angled view in the morning sunlight. This produced a distorted appearance.
