'65 Love Affair
This is another autobiographical piece. At the age of eleven in 1965 the corner drugstore's comic book rack became a place of great refuge for me. With two TV stations and a handful of AM radio channels comic books were my main source of entertainment and escapism. The Silver Age comics depicted in this painting are from my private collection.
I used a few different artistic processes in this painting. I usually use a mixed black (Dioxazine Purple, Phthalocyanine Blue and Burnt Umber). In this piece I used black straight from the tube to duplicate the black ink used in the comics. However, the toy bugs were painted using the mixed black. I also used the point of an x-acto knife to scrape the worn look on the book spines and elsewhere.

Child is Father of the Man
I'm pleased to announce that the painting "Child is Father of the Man" has been accepted into the Watercolor Missouri International Exhibit at the Churchill Memorial in Fulton Missouri. The opening reception is Sunday April 7th. The exhibit is on display from April 7th to May 17th 2013. The exhibit will be available
