I saw this resin figure at a souvenir store in Philidelphia last summer. Since I enjoy painting highly reflective surfaces, I knew I had to paint this image.

Nude Study #11
I used spectrum art tissue to achieve the background colors. The tissue bleeds color when moistened. I then used a scrapbooking printing block to add the background lines. The figure was airbrushed using acrylic paint.

60s Girl Figure
During the 1950s and 1960s the Louis Marx company produce some amazingly detailed toy figures. The toys ranged from Universal Movie Monsters to fighting soldiers. This painting depicts one of the "Campus Cuties" figures produced during 1964.

Retro Style
I found an interesting series of toys recently at an antique mall. The toy figures are very detailed and in solid colors. They were produced during the late 50s and 60s. They vary from female figures to expressive monsters. I decided to do one of the toys in my "3D meets 2D series."

Superman the Statue
We travelled to Nashville last summer and on our return trip we stopped in Metropolis, Illinois.
We toured the Superman museum and stopped for photos at the fifteen foot tall bronze Superman statue. This painting is based on those photos.

Nude with Robe
This painting is reminiscent of the nude painting classes from my university days. The professors would always include some fabric in the pose for an additional challenge. The reference photos used in this painting are from the website characterdesigns.com.

Dancing with Myself
The title to this painting is from a Billy Idol song. I decided to keep the background in cool colors to compliment the warms of the figure.
