Tin Spinner

Sold            8 by 8 inches,             Acrylic on acid free illustration board
I was born in 1954 and the toys I grew up with as a small child were mostly made of tin.  I had several tin tops like the one depicted in my latest painting.  I distinctly remember the tin tops surviving myself and my three brothers as we grew.  Over time the tops became scratched and dented and the finish eventually became somewhat tarnished.  I purchased this toy at a flea market last weekend.  It has some slight wear but is in good condition.  This painting was completed with the morning sun casting light on the piece.  I always like a nice dark shadow to compliment the light on the subject.
