Kid's Stuff

Click to Bid, 11 by 14 inches, Acrylic on acid free illustration board

This painting is somewhat self indulgent with images from my childhood. The background is applied with a water based tissue paper that bleeds when moistened. It is uncontrollable in some respect and that is why I like working with it. Generally my work is very controlled and I like the unpredictability of it.

Saturday Morning Cartoons (As I Recall)

Click to Bid, 16 by 20 inches, Acrylic on acid free illustration board
With the Missouri mandatory "Stay at Home" order I've found myself with additional time to paint. I decided to create another piece with a non-traditional/experimental subject matter. You might consider it self-indulgent and nostalgic but I decided to do a painting with a theme of Saturday morning cartoons that I recall from my childhood. I also enjoy painting plastic toys and positioning them with flat two dimensional images to produce a contrast.

The comic book cover is from a 1954 book.  I used various techniques to make the cover look worn.
