This "Dark Eyed Junco" is commonly referred to as a snowbird. They winter throughout much of the USA.
I painted this piece after watching the Disney movie "The Fox and the Hound" with my grand kids.
After finishing the painting I realized that the artwork has somewhat of a 1970's Disney look to it. My thinking is that my artistic subconscious picked up some influences from the movie.
