Frisket film used in painting "Railroad Crossing (Saturday Morning)"

In the upper left photo you can see a poster board stencil used in painting the black train door.  I cut this stencil to make the painting process of the door easier and less time consuming.  In the lower photo you can see the frisk used in painting the yellow train car.

The white paper pieces attached to the under side of the frisket were used because the frisket is a bit too sticky.  This allows for an easy removal of the film from the illustration board.

Frisket & Paints & Shield used in painting "Brunette Model with Blues"

The frisket film used in painting "Brunette Model with Blues" is pictured above.  Also shown is the paints and the hand held poster board shield.  You can see I removed the arms from the main body on the frisket film.  This allowed me to remove the body frisket and spray along the other side of the left arm.  The poster board shield was hand held and I sprayed along the edge to produce the various body shapes with harder edges.

Frisket used in painting Indian Summer Window

This is the frisket film used in painting "Indian Summer Window."  The dark film is actually a commercially made texture template used in the painting process.

Frisket & Poster Board Stencil Used in Painting "Ice Cream Parlor Window Reflections"

I used poster board stencil to paint the figure in the artwork "Ice Cream Parlor Window Reflections."
I used frisket to paint the ice cream cones.  My reasoning for this combination is that the figure is a reflection so I wanted the edges somewhat soft. The ice cream cones were a sticker attached to the window so I wanted the edges very sharp and precise to give that illusion of being stuck to the glass.

Frisket Used in painting "Phaedra's Iris"

This is the frisket and poster board shield used in painting "Phaedra's Iris". The frisket is self explanatory if your familiar with airbrushing. The poster board shield is used in controlling the paint spray. It's held against the support (in this case illustration board.) The airbrush is then used to spray along the edge of the shield to control the spray.  It was used to produce some of the more subtle variations on the petals.

Frisket Film used in painting Marbles # 19

This is the frisket film used in painting "Marbles # 19."  I've also included the wrapper that the roll of frisket is packaged in. I prefer this brand over the others available on the market.  I use the matt finish because the gloss is difficult to use if you work under a bright light.  It reflects causing visibility issues.

Frisket Film Used in Painting "Early Hyacinth"

This is a photo of the frisket film used in painting "Early Hyacinth." There are several different brands of frisket film available on the market.  The only brand that I found that works well is the "SimAir" brand.

Template and Frisket Used in Painting "Christmas Things"

This is a photo of the frisket film and a commercially made template used in painting "Christmas Things."
You will notice that I cut the frisket around the objects (ornaments & crayons) and also cut the frisket to follow the shadows.  I sometimes paint the shadows using free-hand airbrush but in this case I used the frisket.  This was done because the edges of the shadows were hard and thus required the frisket.  The template was used to create the round reflections of ornaments on the surface of the opposite ornament.
