The female cardinal is of course secondary to the male as subject matter in paintings. Obviously the bright red of the male is very attractive to the artist's eye. I found this female very interesting. The touches of orange and red in the plumage make for a vibrant painting.
She is beautiful, Fred...one of my favorite birds. :o)
